New Class at the Heritage Center: Learn to Publish Your Story

Write to Publish

Tuesdays 10:30am to 12:30am July 8-August 26. 2025

Write to Publish is the class you've been wanting to take. Have you ever promised yourself that you would "someday write a book of fiction, a young adult book, or romantic historical fiction? What about the short story sitting in your mind and wanting to be told, but you don't know how to begin? This class will provide you with the foundational skills to write creatively for any number of applications. We will share our stories as we create a portfolio of inventive and original works of fiction that will impress your family and friends. We will also discuss and learn about the publishing world and where you can find publishers. From self-publishing to publishing online and querying an agent, your ability to publish won't seem as daunting as you once thought. Not everything needs to be published though, so if you want to write just to have your story on paper, please sign up for this class. You'll be entertained and creatively challenged with exciting writing prompts. Each class we'll talk about a different way to get your words out there for others to read.

July 8: Hero and Heroine's Journey. how they are different

July 15: Dialogue and Writing a Fairy Tale

July 22: Suspense and Writing Historical Fiction

July 29: Pace and Writing a Romance Novel

August 5: Most Common Types of Conflict and Writing Story Twists

August 12: Creating a Blog through Wordpress and Writing short stories

August 19: Self-Publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing

August 26: Writing a Query Letter

$25 per class/ $85 for 4 classes/ $165 for 8 classes

About your Instructor:

Amy Webber has a BA in English Literature and Writing from Marylhurst University in Portland. and an MFA in Creative Writing from Cedar Crest College in Allentown. Pennsylvania. During her precious moments with her late mother. Charlotte Adele Schmidt. Amy had the honor of helping write and publish her memoir. Love is a Family: Memoir ofa Lifetime. This experience helped her understand how vital memoirs are to capturing historical and personal moments like photographs in an album. Amy works within the community. teaching, writing, editing, and helping writers self-publish their books. Her business. Her Wordship LLC, has helped people create loving gifts of their life stories.
